Transmissions and Impossible Tasks

After a long discussion that has taken many days, I have finally come to the conclusion that I need to rebuild the transmission of our van.

I am not going to take it to a mechanic. I am not going to take it to the dealership or a transmission shop.

I am going to learn as much as I can about transmissions, get a hold of some of the basic tools, remove, disassemble, and fix the transmission myself.

Crazy?

Probably.

Right now God is probably nudging you pretty hard to do something that you know would be good, holy even, but at the same time, you know just how difficult it is going to be.

But I’m a missionary.

Not only am I used to implementing God’s plans in frugal ways, but over the course of many years, I have learned that no matter how daunting something is (like speaking in front of a large crowd), if it needs to get done, it can be done—with God’s grace.

I want you to have the same mentality.

Right now God is probably nudging you pretty hard to do something that you know would be good, holy even, but at the same time, you know just how difficult it is going to be.

Perhaps, you are going to have to face a lot of resistance from others.

Perhaps you are going to face a lot of inner battles.

And perhaps you are just going to have to accept that you don’t really want to do what you know you need to do.

All of that is okay.

But what is not okay is for a missionary of God, someone like you and me—a baptized son or daughter of God—to shrink from a task.

We are His anointed ones.

And with Him at our side, nothing is impossible!

in Christ,

patrick
