When the Rain Comes Down

This morning as I sit here writing, the rain pours down outside my window.

People are slowly appearing on the streets; not all dressed appropriately but they are showing up nonetheless.

AND IT HAS ME THINKING…

What do you do when the rain comes down?

We all know that when tragedy strikes…

…or when we simply cannot understand God’s ways…

…or when we feel the stress of our jobs and vocations…

…many people have trouble doing what they say is important.

There exists an interior struggle.

And the more we know that others will not notice, we excuse ourselves from whatever task we have in front of us.

BUT LOOK OUT THE WINDOW

On this rainy day people are doing what they consider to be important in spite of the rain.

The storm is not a reason to lose focus or give up.

The storm is not the cover that we need to hide from the searching eyes of others.

No, the wind, the rain, the noise is just what it is.

It will be gone soon and then…

…on another day that we cannot predict…

…there will be another.

But what are we going to do when it happens?

TODAY YOU HAVE A CHOICE

You can stick to the plan;

You can do what God has tasked you to do;

You can wait on the Lord and be patient for His time;

You can continue to love even though it hurts;

You can do all of this and advance the Kingdom of God;

…OR…

You can be what you were never meant to be.

Today, the Lord is sending out His saints into the world in spite of the rain.

May you be counted among them.

Do not give up friends.

in Christ,

patrick
